The Chicago Zoological Society is pleased to welcome Terrence D. Sykes as the new Senior Director of Development. Mr. Sykes has more than 16 years working in both the nonprofit and private sectors. Most recently he served as the Chief Development Officer for the Lambs Fold Center for Women and Children. In that role he coordinated and assured implementation of strategies to market and led the growth of the organization. He also provided general oversight of all the organization's development activities to ensure attainment of development goals. Prior to that, he served as Executive Director and Chief Operating Officer of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana. In this newly created position he was charged to build a development infrastructure in preparation for an organizational capital campaign. He also partnered with the CEO to develop campaign strategy and recruit senior volunteer leadership. Mr. Sykes was also involved in the operation of the House.

Mr. Sykes received his two B.S. degrees (Public Relations & Political Science/Public Administration) from Illinois State University.

He will be joining the Zoo in September 2009.
