Chicago, IL-Alliance for the Great Lakes in Chicago, Illinois, is pleased to announce that they have selected Mr. Joel Brammeier as their President and Chief Executive Officer. Mr. Brammeier will be responsible for advancing the mission, vision and goals of the Alliance.
Mr. Brammeier was most recently the Acting President and Chief Executive Officer of the Alliance for the Great Lakes while also serving as the organization’s Vice President for Policy and Manager of the Habitat Program, a position he held since 2000. He has also served in leadership positions for the Lake Michigan Ecosystem Partnership, U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Asian Carp Working Group, Lake County Clean Water Panel, Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal Dispersal Barrier Panel and Great Lakes Aquatic Habitat Network.
Mr. Brammeier was the New Media Specialist at the American Medical Association. He earned his Masters of Science degree from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, in the fields of natural resources and the environment, and his Bachelor of Science degree from Valparaiso University in the study of biology.
Mr. Brammeier begins his duties on January 1, 2010.
