Ross Hechinger’s experience spans more than 30 years in private foundation leadership, corporate management and startups as well as service on for-profit and non-profit boards. He joined the firm in 2006.

As president of The Hechinger Foundation, Mr. Hechinger created grant guidelines, managed the grant making process and streamlined charitable giving processes to include over 100 geographic locations across the country. The foundation supported Washington, DC neighborhood organizations, cultural institutions, and children’s charities for more than 20 years.

He joined the Board of the Capital Children’s Museum in Washington, DC in 1985 and became board Chair in 1998. In this capacity, he has led the organization through a re-branding process to become the National Children’s Museum, which involved selling its location, strengthening the Board, and hiring a new CEO to lead the new vision. He is currently leading a $130 million fundraising effort to build a new 140,000 square foot state-of-the-art children’s museum contiguous to the National Mall.

Prior to this, he was the Senior Vice President, Corporate Administration for The Hechinger Company, a national home center retail chain. During his career he developed and expanded new businesses, lead strategic planning processes, participated in board leadership, managed finance/internal audit and developed human resource management policy.

Mr. Hechinger graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He has served on several non-profit boards including The Studio Theatre, The Washington Board of Trade, The Levine School of Music Capital Campaign and the National Children’s Museum
